Simone Graduates!

Simone graduated from chemotherapy today! She had her fifth and final treatment, and tolerated it very well. We're so glad to finally be at this point!

Stand By Me

We went to Brownsville this evening to watch "Stand By Me" in Pioneer Park. The film was being shown in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the movie being filmed there. We got there early to stake out a spot and see if any celebrities showed up (we didn't see any).

Simone enjoyed a little time on the blanket with us, and got to meet quite a few other puppies.

When it got dark enough, the movie began, and we were treated to scenes of Brownsville and sounds of the crowd's delight.

Cooling Off

Simone cools off in the river on a hot July day.

Simone for President

Anniversary Picnic

We went to Peavy Arboretum to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary with an evening picnic. OSU has decided to let the lawns return to their natural state, so we had to hike through waist-high deep grass to get to our tree.

Simone settled right in, making a comfy bed out of the grass, and relaxed.

Summer Stroll

After lunch, we took a stroll through Sunset Park.

Simone showed Iggy where the good swimming hole was and proceeded to take a dip to cool off.

DaVinci Days Stroll

We went down to DaVinci Days to watch Bailey and Tammy in the Frisbee competition, and then took a brief stroll around some of the sculptures. Simone enjoyed the sights and smells and the extra celebrity that comes with having only three legs.

Quick Dip

We went down to the Willamette River for a quick dip this hot July evening.

Fourth Chemo Down

Simone had her fourth chemo treatment today. The vets at OSU also did x-rays of her chest and right rear leg to look for metastasis. Chemo went well, and all of the x-rays came back negative. We were so relieved to hear that there are no obvious signs of cancer at this time. As much as we didn't initially want to amputate or even consider chemo, we're glad that we changed our minds. Her leg breaking may have actually been a blessing in disguise. Without that event, we likely wouldn't have gone with this course of treatment, which means she might not be here with us today. We are most thankful that she is.

Doing Great

Simone seems to be feeling great lately. She's been wagging her tail a lot, talking more, and just seems to have more energy in general. She ran to the park, almost faster than we could keep up, not once..but twice yesterday. Her enthusiasm and vivacity is so encouraging. We are praying that it continues.
